I’m livid right now, so bear with me if this isn’t the most cohesive thing you’ve ever read.
In regard to Betty Francis’ weight gain, the response on Tumblr (for the most part) and the rest of the internet in general has been absolutely disgusting. I know people aren’t supposed to feel that much sympathy toward Betty, but the comments I’ve been reading, especially in this pathetic uproxx piece, are straight-up cruel and over the edge.
At least 8 million Americans are suffering from an eating disorder right now. It is the mental illness with highest mortality rate. Do we really need any more fat shaming than we already get from the media?
Besides, SCDP just hired their first Jew!! Isn’t that a little more interesting to talk about?
